For the benefit of climate protection, the district of Karlsruhe wanted to create mobility solutions that meet the needs of the community. One goal was to convince more people to drive their own cars less and thus relieve the burden on traffic. Simultaneously, the aim was to reduce the differences in public mobility availability in the city and the countryside and thus contribute to the creation of equal living conditions regardless of the place of residence.
The District of Karlsruhe and the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV) introduced an on-demand shuttle service (MyShuttle) as a two year real-lab project. The aim is to connect the outlying areas of Dettenheim and Graben-Neudorf directly to Karlsruhe with a sensible addition to the existing public transport service, especially at off-peak times and weekends. MyShuttle serves a total of 80 virtual stops by three limitless accessibility vehicles that operate according to a ridepooling approach. The service is fully integrated into the KVV tariff.
